Getting Custody of Your Children After You Leave Them Behind

If you want to fight for custody of your children at a later date it
would be in your best interest to never leave them behind with your ex.
Simply put, the court will see this as you running out on the situation
and the children being better off with the parent who stayed. This may
not always be a fair assessment, but most of the time it is the way
that things will work out in your child custody case.
What if I have to leave to avoid a dangerous situation? While there is nothing wrong with this, you should take your children with you to avoid future problems. After all, if you feel in danger there is a very good chance that your children feel the same way. Upon leaving, your first priority should be to file for child support and temporary custody.
If you are going through a divorce and know that you want custody of your children it is important that you stay by their side throughout the entire process. The biggest mistake you could make would be leaving your children with your ex. This is looked down on by the court, and will make it very difficult for you to receive full physical custody in the future.
